I have heard on many occasions, that when Tom's book on SA daggers comes out, the prices for SA daggers will jump to the roof. I would like to know your thoughts on this. How relevant is this? Would like to hear from you. thanks

Look at what happened with Tom's SS book. Not that SS daggers were ever cheap, but they sure haven't dropped in price since his book came out. No question the same will happen with any quality pre RZM SA pieces. Get yours now

I think even without SS book, the prices would jump to the roof due to information on the internet. Even 5 years ago, an avarage collector would have to attend shows to buy the staff and to see it. Now it is really easy, you have it on your fingertips. IMO

I have followed SS dagger prices for a while and they have been rising steadily since I saw my first ones for 25-30 pounds in the UK in the early 1960's. They have never stopped increasing. Whether Tom's book or the increasing info available on the Internet spurred them on is hard to say.
One thing that I do notice is an increasing general interest in militaria and the military history of World War II.

The expectations for the coming SA book have already increased the prices more than the book itself is going to do when it’s finally out for sale, who knows when the book is coming?
People already buying nice looking SA: s for big money. Maybe the big effect everyone expecting is going to fail when the book finally is here.
The rising demand of SA daggers controls the prices and the price increases is going to continue year after year with or without the coming SA book. I'm sure looking forward to the book myself but it’s just because I always love to study and learn more about this amazing hobby that gives so much pleasure.
Just my opinions and thoughts,

IMO, High Quality daggers will ALWAYS be in demand. Yes there is a SS "buying panic" and Toms book did not hurt SS dagger sales! With the internet, and rising History Channel exposure, movies, books, etc. People have become intrested not only in the history but in the relichs. Civil war items are CRAZY prices. Example a Colt .45 civil war era are selling for 2k to 100k.
Even Russian WW2 items are rising. I have a 7.62x54 SVT rifle. Bought it in 1996 for $290.00 NOW selling for $800-$1000.00.
So YES the SA book WILL help create demand and intrest in SA daggers. Nice SA are VERY hard to find now, lots of junk out there. At the SOS and MAX there was hundreds of SA's I only saw 2 or 3 really nice ones in NM condition. Houston had the best slection of nice SA's at the SOS.
