Hi
I have had this one for some years. It came out of a norwegian dealer. It have been used in the early national guard after the war like many other ss smocks in Norway. It has a lot of repairs, and some may have been done post war by the defence.
Cheers.

Hi. Wow..This is a salty piece! IMO it has a very good chance to be original. I would recomend black light testing, since the repairs, or at least some of them appear to be done post war. This is a Model 1942 type 1 smock, with mostly Oak leaf "A" pattern camo, but on sleves i think its Plane tree nr 6. You could also see the "6" nr stamp on pocket flap on pic. 23. WinkI also look forward for further opinions. Ist a study!! Cool Best, norge

In comparison of the oak leaf camo itself to a library we have of known originals, it looks good and looks to have good potential. However, because of the manner in which the piece has been assembled it makes it difficult to check repeatability of the pattern.

Beyond that (or because of that) the piece would warrant first hand inspection by someone to be sure.

Its quite likely its a made up piece from zeltbahns. I dont like that the lower part is a new camo pice. Original factory isseues never had this trait because they were made of full length cloth bolts.

Hi all
The smock is made of correct material, not zeltbahn cloth. The repairs are of different pattern yes, but this happend.See the Borrasello ss camo book and the sleeves are shown ++. The smock itself is made of thinner material then zelts are.
It is known that the norwegian defence used this smock`s and that they mended them. My question is if these repairs are done during war or postwar? I hope this helps specifiy my questions.
Cheers!

Hi Jotuntroll,...blacklite the neck and skirt repairs. If they were done postwar there is a greater chance these stitchings will glow(however if the thread is dark they may not glow at all). Also if you can find a loose thread around these areas remove it and try a burn test.

Hi Dave
The smock has been trough an intense blacklight test without any new treads found on it.
I also made a burn test, and the treads are also of correct material.
Cheers!

Everything is possible here. The smock could be original in it's current state. But, it could be reasembled from original material with original thread. Or the smock was heavily damaged and repaired with original Zeltbahn material last month... Who knows?

That is the major reason why I refuse to buy a smock. Expensive and not worth the chance of it being a put together zelt.
Regarding the above smock, I have no idea if it is good or bad, so just talking about my own case situation.

Looking for DAK 1st or 2nd model Tunic in Large size.
Also looking for Italian camo trousers in medium size.
