Just came across this Car pennant and had some questions. Is this a political Car pennant? Who would have used this and was it actually for a car? Does it look like the real thing? Any idea on value? Thank you in advance for your input. JME

Very nice..mid to late thirties on that one..interesting to note the lack of black thread used to highlite the bird..

the clip does not look ww2 era. usually they used an extra small spring inside clip to hold closed. but pennant eagle does look like ww2 era chain stitching..not sure..

Thank you all for your input so far. One of these day’s I might know how to sell Political correctly. Some of you like this and some have some reservation about the hook and then John does not like this at all. John is it possible to tell us what possible is not correct or what you don’t like about this? Has anybody ever seen on like this? THE PATTERN IS LEGITIMATE. THE FIRST PATTERN POLITICAL LEADER CAR PENNANT FROM THE EARLY 30'S WAS IN THIS FORM. HOWEVER, THE EAGLE WAS NOT EXECUTED IN THIS MANNER BUT WAS OUTLINED IN BLACK THREAD. THE CONSTRUCTION IS SIMILAR TO THE TWO I HAVE SEEN. I AM HESITANT TO APPROVE THIS PIECE WITHOUT A HANDS ON EXAMINATION. AT THIS POINT, I WOULD ERROR ON A POSITION OF CAUTION

I agree with Bob, this pattern is legitimate, but as stated, rendered more often with black thread in the finishing detail..perhaps it was left unfinished..I also know the repro variation that John refers to, it is somewhat like this, but without the quality of chain stitching nor the re-inforced end

I like the quality and type of chain stitching used, and have yet to see a modern piece that could achieve this level of proficiency and symmetry.There are a lot that are close, but it truly is a difficult task to chain stitch in a competent fashion..so far the Pakistanis have not mastered it, though i am sure they are trying hard..

The clip is also of a known type used in the period..

It looks like something blue or faded black behind some of that chain stitch. What is that???

Hi everyone

Have shown this before and it was totaly baged by all but one person. Anyhow the eagle like JMEs one is the early style.

It's mainly for JME to see that there are none conventional or standardised flags out there.
