Gentlemen,
Anyone have any idea who used this maker mark? It's similar to one attributed to Herman Wernstein but not the same.......
It's on a 1938 DRL Leistungsabzeichen.

If you squint your eyes and use my wild imagination, it somewhat resembles the Munich coat of arms logo. Sorry, that was no help what so ever. Still looking! --dj--Joe

Thinking on line. Wild, Hamburg. W. Hobacher, Wien. Hauptmnzamt, Wien. (doubtfull). Hermann Wernstein. _, Hannover. ? _, Wuppertal. ? Still looking. Wonder if it shows up among tinnie manufacturers? --dj--Joe

Don, you have jogged my memory. I recall seeing that a while back and thinking then it was an interesting mark and an educated guess. Like my speculations. There are so many unknown manufacturers. --dj--Joe

A wild guess here but you could be on the right track about Hermann Wernstein. As you know the familiar W with the 5 dots above it has been now attributed to another maker. When you look closely at the MM you have shown it appears to me that the inside markings are in fact a H joining onto the the outside W. Yeah I know back to the old schnapps bottle for me but its worth a try. Phil

Hi guys, Philippe and a few of us over at the GCA forum think that this could be the real Herman Wernstein mark, but we still don't know for sure. As PJS says, the "w with 5 small dots" has been attributed to the Wiedmann company. Tom Close Combat Clasp Book - November 15th, 2007 www.papjay.com

Tom, has the WH mark in question been noted on a war or qualification badge?

Don, do you have an image of the other mark you were searching for? NR or RN in an oval.

Hi guys, That is a new one for me. Can we see the entire obverse and reverse? Maybe hardware setup can give us some clues. Tom Close Combat Clasp Book - November 15th, 2007 www.papjay.com

This mark was used on a large variety of organisational badges. I've chosen this particular badge to use as the "test" or "comparison" piece as this design was used both pre & post RZM. I live in the hope that I can find an RZM marked piece that shows the exact same obverse die markings..... Cheers Don

Indeed I have Joe it's Hermann Bauer of Schwbisch, Gmnd.
Unfortunately I don't have a clear shot of my own of the maker mark on a badge to post at this time.
