A neighbor had three bayonets and a helmet in his attic that were from an Uncle. I think the helmet is an M42 from what I read in old posts here. The inside is badly deteriorated.

A guess on value would be helpful

Thanks,
Dave

There is a stamp in the crown, but it is hard to read and I cannot get the knot in the string undone.

Should I look Elsewhere ?

Dave can we see a close up of the decal? that is one weird shaped shield it is on! The rivet on the chinstrap is odd too, that may have been added. But the rest looks right. You may have some funky prototype decal on your hands, or it could be a 1960s Hollywood special.

from the images it appears to have been an RAD that had an army decal applied over it. As Jerry indicated, a close up of the decal would help.

The pictures are poor but it looks to be a factory M42 Luft that was reissued to the RAD then to the Army. Really need some detailed, sharp pictures of the decal area. Chinstrap looks to be a civic style, would need more pictures of it as well.

Here are 4 more shots. There are two small parallel horizontal scratches in the area enclosed by the red box above.

One member has suggested by email that the eagle might be a "first railways".

Below that: Something with wings (?)

This has been confirmed by an advanced collector as a Luftwaffe, re-issued to RAD, and then to Heer.
