Hello.

I just received this RK from Germany, I was not too happy with it as it differed slightly from the scans I was sent before I bought it. I do have 100% guarantee of refund if I am not happy with it.

I e-mailed Erich SA a fellow member and immediatly he called this a "dunking doughnut" copy. He advised I should return it. It does come with providence from a Dietliev guy in Hamburg, which is a little odd if it so screamingly obviously a copy.

So I post these two scans for dual purpose. First ......advice

Second......a pictorial reference for what could be a FAKE.

I'm not an expert by a long shot, but I've never seen a KC like this one.

Hi Spock,

the croos is not one made by the accepted makers. Especially , as my dear friend Mike already pointed out, the dipping ring is a big "no,no". This feature, i.e. the dipping ring, was only legitimate found on the Grand Cross so far - however, it must be said that there are contemporary pictures with seem to show a dipping ring feature. No such cross with 100% provenence has so far surfaced.

Your cross here is a fake.

Dietrich

Quite of surprising that this KC came with Detlev's COA, being one of the most respected dealer out there. Confused
Perhaps, Detlev's COA is also a fake. Big Grin

I'd like to see a close up shot of the RK on the "COA" and then compare it to the RK at the top of this thread ..I have a feeling they won't match. There are a lot of "fingerprints" that could be compared to see if it's the same Cross ..for example , There's a good sized rust stain at the bottom edge (against the beading)of the 3 o'clock arm on the front..does it show on the "COA" photo ?
BTW ..HI Dietrich !! Thanks for coming by Big Grin
see ya soon

Spock initially said that he was unhappy bec ause the KC mailed differed from the initial scans he saw.

Does the COA match the mailed KC or the KC in the scans?

Detlev is known for being one of the 'good guys' although no one is perfect, he is better than a lot out there. Let's try to find out all the facts before his character is assassinated here. He is also not directly involved in this particular transaction, so anything is possible.

If someones out to "zap" a collector , it would be worth it for them to send a real RK to Detlev , get a COA for it ...and then put THAT COA with the fake RK ..and sell the set. There's no way Detlev would miss that ring and issue a COA for it ..so Detlev's not the issue here ..it's the seller

Spock, that 'type' of repo will most commonly be found marked L/17 800. Even in-hand and without the aid of a digital scale you will find it very light and in the area of 24-25 grms.

About 10 years ago they could be bought as REPRODUCTIONS either 'aged' or 'new' in appearance.

Cheers,
Dave

Detlev knows his stuff when it comes to medals. Although he, like anyone else is not perfect he certainly has a respected opinion in the hobby and his "thumbs up" carries weight the same way that Siskel and Ebert did with movie reviews.I would concur that there must be something amiss. cheers, Ryan
