After discussing this privately with other forum members I decided to post a link to this here for discussion and opinions.

Wow, the cost is almost $1200.00 USD for a reproduction! Personally, I'm looking to pay more but get the history that goes with an original, than to simply buy another piece of jewelry. ~ Ian

I was emailed this link this weekend, and am buying one to picture in my book. Is it worth it? Only time will tell - it's frankly a very scary item, judging by the photos.

At least the part about them not making rings for dates prior to 1945 makes them a little less unsettling. Craig let us know how yours looks when its in hand.

Quality aside, that's quite a price for a postwar production piece. With the way things seem to be going, I'm sure we'll see these in future years, worn down a little and priced high.

However nice they may be, they are repoductions and you can get a very nice reproduction for a LOT less than that. That price is astronomical for essentially a faked ring, in my opinion. P.T. Barnum stuff. "There is one born every day".

S.lb Kingtiger 2.15.07...now would there have been an "0" in "07"?

the band does look pretty nice though...

Why does a wearing copy have to look perfect? Imagine this ring with the skull corrected and a few other tweaks then a heavy age/wear put on it Mad..I guess that $1200. price tag will at least put a squash on cheap[?] $900. 'originals'. Razz

I do agree - the skull looks just a bit too "tall" for my liking, but that is the only flaw I can see. I will know when I have mine in hand, but the rest looks amazing. I think that slightly worn down, it would be extremely convincing, if not perfectly convincing. Also, very good point on the price - it will keep crooks from ordering these, polishing them down on a polishing wheel, and selling them for cheap money to unsuspecting customers.

Under the

ETHICS section,

"The men above pictured are evil. We do not support Nazi ideology and do not tolerate racism or prejudism. These rings are for historical purposes only and are designed to serve the collector who cannot afford a real SS Honor Ring. Because real rings increasing in value every day and worth thousands these provide a healthy alternative.

We do not want people to be ripped off with our rings. This is why we are posting photos of our rings so that people can learn to spot them with careful study. We support the discussion of our rings on forums and message boards. Also we will not engrave rings with a classic date year and will only engrave them with the year that your ring is manufactured, or with a year of your choosing that is after 1945. We will not send out blank rings."

I guess they are trying to be somewhat scrupulous? Confused

While the band is nice, isn't the skull's nose somewhat simian looking? Kingtiger is quite correct too, a fake is a fake (in my opinion as well) and decent fakes can be had for a fraction of that price.
