Dear mates,

I have bought two navy daggers with the portepees attached. The problem is that Im not sure if these porteppes are original, due to they havent so called cats anus.
As you can see from the picture one of the portepee looks like never has been apart from the dagger. Other one portepee has gold color, but also hasnt the expected cats anus
What do I have actually?

Pesho, the 'cat's anus' refers to the cinched opening, which they all have.

I think he is referring to the dot in the bottom. Your center example has the most normally accepted Navy dot. I've seen Vet acquired examples with the Heer type dot but despite that collectors want to see the cats anus type dot.
As far as the portepee on the right it appears to me to be the nylon type that is late war. we see these on late war Army daggers. Hope that helps some. Smile

Sorry for the late respond but for a couple of weeks I was traveled into the country hunting for some new items for my collection and I had limited computers access.
Fortunately I came home with big trophies 2 Bulgarian royal swords, 1 Bulgarian royal Army dagger , 1 Brannik knife with unusual grip emblem, 1 SS grip and 3 post war full set uniforms and some others small items. All these Ill post late for discussion in the relevant topics.
Likesidetrader and "Kursk" thanks your comments. My question actually was in connection with the dot in the bottom. I have always thought that the nylon type with gold color is late war Navy portepee.
