In a previous post, I showed you my newly arrived Land Customs by Eickhorn. Here, I would like to show you my Sea Customs by Alcoso.
I acquired this dagger earlier this year form Paul at Lakesidetrader. Thank you, Paul.
While not stone mint, like my Land Customs, it is quite presentable.

Thanks, guys, I just love this stuff.
Billy, for your info, I moved into etched bayos as soon as I started to find it difficult to get all of the dagger types. Not to mention the stratospheric costs associated with the hard to find ones.
My collecting interests are:
1) one of each dagger type (preferably Eickhorn) 2) Luft2 maker marks 3) etched bayonets (Pack and Eickhorn and anything really exciting) 4) Medals and accoutrements that could have been worn by Norwegian members of their National Socialist party and the SS 5) the medals and the cloth that would have been worn by Gerhard Feldman, the original holder of my numbered SS Rohm.
I figure that, if things get slow in one area, then I may be able to find something in another.
John

Very nice dagger John and from a good source. I'm glad to see that someone is still trying to assemble a collection that has one of each dagger in it. A very challenging financial proposition for most. Thanks for sharing your new dagger. Doug

John, Congratulations on your latest addition - rare, beautiful and in fabulous condition. It just doesn't get any better than that! Paul keeps turning up some outstanding hardware, doesn't he? He's one heck of a good man. Best! Bill

Like the bandit said, "show of is what I do best".
Great dagger, the first sea-custom I've ever seen.

Dippy:
Do you have Bowman's book, Third Reich Daggers?
On pages 246-247, he describes the Sea Customs dagger and on pages 251-253 their reproductions.
The first thing to look at are the quality of fittings... originals are fine, repros are poorly defined.

HI I DO HAVE BOTH THE BOWMAN BOOKS AND THE STEPENS ONES,AND WHAT I BELIEVE EVERY BOOK MADE ON THE SUBJECT ,EVEN A FEW WARTIME CATALOGUES SEEN VERY DIFFERING OPINIONS. MY ONE IS HERE,THE KNOT AND HANGER CAME TOGETHER FROM A HOUSE CLEARANCE IN GERMANY NEVER GOT A PIC BOUGHT THEM BLIND AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD BE ARMY FROM A NOVICE HUNTER GATHERER GREAT SURPRISE FOR ME WHEN THEY ARRIVED,SO I PUT THEM WITH IT MAY NOT BE TEXT BOOK BUT HARD NOT TO SAY THEY DONT LOOK GOOD TOGETHER,I DO HAVE MANY KNOTS AND HANGERS AND CAN ASSURE EVERYONE THEY ARE OLD AND SMELL IT. YOU DONT GET NOTHING FOR A PAIR IN THIS GAME. DIPPY

ooh they look very nice.
You don't get too many of those floating around nowadays. I wonder just how many sea customs were made and how many manufactures there were. Also were they issued or private purchase?

Oh but you will some day! A dagger is never complete w/o the hangers/knots! It is also fun to collect them as they are sometimes more difficult to locate than the dagger itself, example HJ leaders, Teno, RR Police, on an on.

I was originally the same way, with both daggers & then bayonets. It ain't the same though, caught the bug big time. Sometimes it seems I'm more interested in the accouterments than the daggers & bayonets.

Thank you, again, guys. It took several years to find this (and a lot of cash ). I credit Paul Hogle with this find. I like the look of 'been there, done that' of this dagger vs the very pristine look of my mint Land Customs. John
