I'm going to list it in the classifieds, but I need to know how to describe what it is first of all. It has the owners name on the back skirt as well. Kind of neat.

It's a german M16 shell.
Have a look at the stamped letters on the inner skirt (left side), probably ET 66 or similar, first letters being the maker and numbers being the size.

looking at the front of this helmet it could have had the friekorps skull and cross bones on it.might be wrong but looks good to me looks as though some kid has painted the swaz on it aswell,still a nice solid helmet

I have special powers Not really, type of Vent lugs can be used to determine the size.. And ET was the most common maker. ET = Eisenh�ttenwerke - Thale

Few more than that...
but not many due to the machinary requred to make them.
Haven't got my list to hand at the moment.
Just that ET seems to be the most prolific WWI maker.
Maker doesnt normally affect the price.

Here is a period photo of a helmeted fellow saluting a Freikorps parade. His helmet has just such a small swas as your helmet does.
