I have been offered this early 1st Luftwaffe. It looks in reasonbly good condition, and is unit marked. can anyone give their opinions on is, and who the unit is? Also what would a fair offer price be on this. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. I've just been told the grip appears to be painted wood, rather than covered in leather. Is this post war done? Seems strange as the wire is still intact. Has anyone seen 1st lufts with painted grips? thanks ldr Thanks LDR

The scabbard looks like it's missing the leather as well. The fittings have a big "gap" between themselves and the scabbard shell. Looks like someone removed the leather from the whole dagger and re-wrapped the grip wire? It's an easy fix to get it re-covered by Tom Whittmann or some one like him. I would buy it if the price was right..I think around $600-$700.00 as the repairs are going to be a few hundred easy. Mark

I`m with Mark on this one. Look at top edge of scabbard on picture 3. Sure looks like metal showing through the surface there.
War is when your government tells you who the enemy is. Revolution is when you figure it out for yourself.

thanks guys you were right, from what i've been told there are remains of leather under the fittings. So at some time the leather has been removed. Any info on the unit marking?
