I would very much like an opinion on this hunting dagger. It came complete with the belt/frog. The belt is very old, but was of the highest quality. It is worn brocade with silk and fine leather lining.
The dagger handle is ivory. The guard appears to be solid silver. The dagger no longer fits into the scabbard completely due to shrinkage of the leather.
The etching on the blade appears to be of a french design. The blade has a deep hollow grind, and is still in excellent condition due to the fine polish. I tend to lean towards this being a french dagger?

I agree with Paul. The fox head stud is common to the ones I've seen in the Paris museums. Very nice!
