My dad has zero interest in the stuff that I collect, however, he does collect hunting trophies and is very proud of it.
I just picked up my father at the airport yesterday and I thought it would be cool for a change to show my dad's collecting interest.
My dad hunts all over the world and he was in South Africa for the last 3 weeks.
He will be receiving his trophies in the next few weeks but they first have to be naturalize.

Pat - Your Dad looks to be a Great Guy (Like Father - Like Son!) as well. He did have a very successful Safari in the RSA, with a number of Super Trophies! I image that he is a member of SCI (Safari Club International) or CIC. (I am also an African Trophy Hunter & Conservationist - & a SCI Life Member).

Pat - so that you can better 'Understand' your Dad's Trophies - I'll try to put them into Dagger Collector Terminology for you! (It makes learning about the 'Species' easier!)

Love your Dad's Cabella's Cap! I didn't know that Cabella had a Store in France? My first stop in Paris was always to the great Sporting Good's Store - Gastine-Renettre (?sp), but Sadly, it is has closed. I now go straight to "H & H" on Ave Victor Hugo. Your Dad will have Great Stories to Tell - & a Lifetime of Special Memories, to Keep, and to share.

Woaaaaaaaah Dave, I'm really impressed with your knowledge about African wild life and hunting.
Thanks for taking the time to translate for me in "dagger terminology", the different species that he hunted down.
To be very honest with you, I don't know much about my dad's hobby and passion but I know that he takes his sport very seriously.
He told me that next year he will be travelling once again to Africa but will be heading to Namibia, in the Kalahari Desert I think.
He has asked me to come with him next year and perhaps do my "initiation" sort of speak, I'm very tempted to accept his offer.

As for my dad Cabella's cap, I don't know where he got it from but since he travels alot, perhaps he picked it up at one of his safari or even in the US.
He goes once or twice a year to California and somewhere else in the Eastern US, to special Safari and gun shows.
This is where he get's most of his informations in relation to his Safari trips.

Before some anti-hunter gets on here and carps about what a waste this is I'm going to point out the following. The meat from these kills is generally given to the local tribes and provides a much needed source of protien. The hunter just retains the hide and horns but nothing really goes to waste.
