I recently bought the attached ring from a dealer which is obvious from the attached pics, the Danish goldsmith who produced this ring was living in a rural Danish town in north Jutland which in 1942 was surrounded by German bunkers and German naval coastal gun batteries. Interestingly the sun wheel swasticas are turned the wrong way. I have never seen this ring before so probably made on order to individuals or small units.

Hi,, Many of the rings were for the Costal Artillery that was there. There were many different patterns both Norwegian made and German made.. I have seen a VERY similar ring,,,but without the reversed swastikas.. Can you get a photo of the ring without the swastikas blacked out?. Those marks in the band are for the name on the box!. In this case the maker is also the retailer! A.Ab. is short for A. Abrahamsen,,very nice!.. Looks like the ring has been polished a few times too many,,,but I like it and its a nice piece. Ring, box, both in good condition for a popular unit during the 'Norge' campaign.. Even if its expensive it a nice piece that you'll probably maybe never see again like this with the box..
If you would want to research this further few things you might be able to find out:: Is this jeweler still in business? Is there a record of his maker marks [A.Ab.]??

you must check very carefully Prorege about those reversed Swastikas!!
The company used the marks 2 times: *1937 to 1958 *and, 1958 to 1973..
BOTH times they made pieces postwar. You must check to see if the reversed Swastikas were meant for postwar production..With more reseach you'll be able to find out [maybe thru the box design!] if the ring was made as a post war commemorative,,or as a wartime piece for the units campaign in Norway.
Sometimes when a jeweler changes shops/area they must apply for their hallmark again,or their silver standards or laws changed,,or something happened in 1958.. The ring is 20th century and there's gotta be some Danish silver experts that could tell you if their old address 1937 to 58 is the one on that box. and maybe what happened in 1958 for him to be listed again instead as 1937 to 1973.

The low telephone number on the box (506) with no prefix seems enough to identify the manufacture to be very early. I can assure you no Danish goldsmiths even dared to make any commemorative rings with swasticas and a their silvermark during the post war years (even today), the wartime Danish companies who supplied the Danish nazi party and Danish W-SS volunteers with badges/pins during the war have been rejecting the facts until today even though the badges carried their names or initials on the reverse, so it's still a very controversial issue. I sent the pictures of the ring to the local museum today so will be interesting to hear what they say.

Just a short update, good news: I heard from the local Danish museum today, the short telephone number shown on the box (506) was discontinued in the 1950s. The goldsmith was known to hide in his home and assist Danish resistance fighthers during WW2, the son of the goldsmith is still alive and the museum curator will ask if he has any knowledge of his father producing rings for the local German naval units, often they had no choice.....
Will let you know.

that's good news.. This detective work is most of the fun in this hobby. And the best part is that afterwards most of the time the reward is another original piece for our collection! Keep going and keep us informed.. Thanks..,G.
