Hello everyone,
I'm not good at posting a direct link to ebay yet but their is a Spalteneder on ebay item #190077538970, the scabbard has a couple of minor issues but the rest of the dagger is not too bad.
I think it is OK to post these pics since i listed the item # and it i.d.'s the seller.
Is this the same OLEG on GDC?

Even with these minor scabbard issues, it's a nice looking dagger for the new guy or someone who collects the rare makers. I would jump on this but no funds to do so. Best of all it's at $350.00 with a little more than a day to go. I think it's a steal and thought i would share it with you guy's.

Only the scabbard has issues as far as I can determine. You get the dagger along with the scabbard. It's gonna be a catfight for sure Cool

Well Thanks Eric. I was bidding on that "sleeper". Since you advertised it, it's now $635.00. You've created a bidding war. I'm sure it makes the seller real happy. Now it will go over 1K Confused -wagner-

Well, I learn something new here every day! What an interesting way to illicit bidding. I may have seen it before but not even realized it. I wonder if its an end-run around eBan politics or is the goal much loftier? Hope someone here gets it and for a good price! ~ Ian

In the 'old days' Dave used to point out daggers on e-bay and I was lucky to get a few. Now and then another forum member will let us know about something on ebay as well. No biggie. I have also felt the sting of being exposed like a vampire in the sun when I was almost alone on a dagger.

This is a rare one and you can always fix a scabbard, but not a blade. I expect this will go over a grand also.

Sorry if i stepped on someones toes, just thought you guys should know about a rare piece. I don't know if the price was my doing or if all the other people who asked questions got the pictures today as well, as some or most of you guys are like me and wait until the last 5 minutes to bid to try to get a good deal. I think it has alot to do with something lasting more than 2 or 3 days on Eban without being pulled. Even if this goes for a grand you all know the big guys would be asking $1400.00+ for it. All said and done i do hope a GDC member gets it under retail price.

Yes i've noticed this dagger has now disappeared.
This is the problem with advertising current ebay auctions.
Maybe it shouldn't be allowed? Perhaps daggers that are suspicious, or are definate problems should be the only live links that can be posted?

I would like to know what happened to this dagger as well. It had none of the 'triggers' that ebay employs to kill German WWII auctions. I sure hate it when stuff like that just vanishes.

I hope it surfaces somewhere.

Where could it have been purchased for $500 a while ago as REVyj posted?

My guess is someones offered him a load of money and the seller has cancelled it himself.

Mark is right - I used to do that and I need to get back in the habit of posting interesting eBay auctions so that everyone can see the great stuff and the junk sold there.

Stan - Dirty tricks on eBay ?? Haha. As far as "Has not got the guts to bid it out with the rest of us", there are no ethics on eBay that I have ever noticed. That venue has seen more crafty and dirty schemes that most other ones. Fakes, substitutions, items really not owned, doctored pictures, auctions ended early, second-chance scams, etc. If you search in past posts, (if they are still there) some of our members have bragged about their techniques for securing the stuff they want.

Hi All,
I just emailed the seller and i'm waiting for a response from him to see what happened to the dagger. I don't know him personally at all so i'm not sure he will even respond. I agree with some of you, there were no key words to tip off eban except maybe when he mentioned in the discription " who ever buys the scabbard gets everything else that comes with it", yea it's reading between the lines but i think eban is wising up to selling tactics to get around their rules, or maybe he sent the wrong person pictures like a eban employee, i'm most certain they have a person who will ask questions to get the seller busted. I have had suspicious questions from people who were members on ebay for the last 2-3 years and only had a feedback of 1 or 2 when i was selling a 2nd mod. luft and Army dagger last month(thay were pulled), and when you did look at their feedback they bought from sellers like the toy store or baby's and us. I think they are getting very serious about the whole nazi thing. I bet you can watch all the Sa , army, luft, ss daggers and they all will be pulled. Now is the time for other auction sites to do some promoting or better yet email the sellers on eban and tell them about GDC, then we all would have so many daggers, swords, helmets, badges, etc. being listed in the For Sale Forum we could sit back and take our pic, nice thought Eh!

Hi Dave,
I bet the eickhorn gets the boot and poissibly the rzm marked hanger. I will be putting a bid on the fist one you mentioned it looks nice. Sould we contact some of the sellers of german daggers to let them know about this site, Is this a wise decision?

Eric..a very wise decision in case it gets pulled. Just be very sure you can contact them..maybe the best is if you can tell them you are a collector and ask to call them on the phone and discuss the item. People are less prone to be lying if you can actually ask a few questions over the phone.

First let me say that these plain circle maker marks just don't do anything for me. I need to look at a gazelle or hydrant or something interesting. You guys can have all those ugly ones.

Anyways, I'm sure this is the exact same dagger since the picture file names are identical to those of before. The seller had I believe five daggers for sale. One had an obvious fake blade which I posted in the reproduction forum under "bogus blade." There were two others that I was interested in and made a deal to buy both for one price. At the last second they stated that the one I really wanted was unavailable. I almost changed my mind at that point but went ahead and acquired a nice ground Rohm Heller.

I felt that the transaction didn't have very good vibes. First they went back on the first agreement which almost made me drop the whole thing. All the emails were very short and uninformative. The really weird part was that I was dealing with a woman with a slavic name and a non-native command of the language. When I emailed that payment was on the way I got a reply of "ROGER THAT!" It just seemed strange and I had to wonder how many people I was really dealing with.

Like I said this didn't feel right. I thought that maybe I was lucky to get away with one good purchase so I didn't mind leaving anything behind. Sometimes it's best to show caution.

I believe Rev's advice should be well taken here. I was a early bidder. She(Oleg)? has contacted me and said the dagger was pulled and wanted to know how much I would pay for it. I asked for a phone number since I had a few questions. She/he just replied and said "e-mail only". I don't get that fuzzy feeling here.
I also believe that one of the bidders reported that dagger to eban to get it pulled. Ebay does not dig that deep. They don't have to. They have all the bidding informers do it for them. Roll Eyes
It does look however like a very desirable dagger. -wagner-

Hi wagner,
I emailed Oleg 3 times since i started this thread and still no response, i agree no fuzzy feeling. At first i thought it was the same Oleg here on GDC., maybe i should be more careful next time.
let me say it for you wagner and Rev (do you think!)

Hello Eric,
"Our" Oleg has not been heard from since November. You, I believe, had the last known post from him at that time. He listed his location from New Jersey. The eban Oleg is back east too. However the name Oleg is a very common Russian name. So it could be anyone.
However, our "Oleg" would post here very regularly every dagger he was thinking of buying for everyones opinion. And he bought a lot in a short time. Most of which I thought were not collector grade. Some parts daggers in my opinion. In my expereance, when I guy buys a whole bunch without much knowledge he's first in
that "Dagger Rush" period. Later, they find they bought a bunch of Junk, the dissapointment sent in, they can't get through it, and before long -- They are gone.... Wink -wagner-

Hi Eric,I was also watching the dagger ,it is Oleg1 who is a GDC member. I have emailed him to see if he sold it off ebay, and he did not answer my emails either.Oleg1 was logged on to the forum earlier, tha fact that he did not answer the thread means he must be satisfied with the price he got. nats

Seems everyone gets burnt now and then. I picked a dagger by this maker second hand from the widow of a vet. They were burning the weapons, and God knows what else, in the town and he pulled it out of the fire. He said he hated to see such nice artifacts being destroyed. Kida of a neat story so I've hung on to the dagger.
I think this is the only maker that offset the Gau mark. The ebay dagger is the third that I've seen and all with the same mark.
