I need help. Who are the manufature of the WWI German M18 helmet with the ear cut out. Where ET the only manufacture or did BF produce them as well?

Hello Joe! Only ET made them and only in size64. Anything else is a fake. Ken

If I were you, I'd search eBay with the words, "History of the German Steel Helmet" and "Baer" Pick up this book and a few others. Look at Thomas Kibler's book Combat Helmets of the Third Reich Volumes I or II. Info on that is in a current thread on this site, here.

Thanks for the tip.I have the two books you have mentioned. In the history of the German helmet. All I can find is the mentioned of 100,000 helmets produce in size 64 but by who?
Then it mentions test helmets of 2100 in size 64, but again produce by who? The other book is on third reich helmets does not mention anything about m18 helmets. So again in what reference book or document it states that ET was the producer of this style of helmet.

I am not sure if we mentioned the proper size and maker in our book, I think we did. But Stephan is correct in his comments. There are rumors that another size exists although I would never trust that hypothesis.

ET was the only manufacturer of the "Cut-Out" or Talker type helmets. ET was also the only producer of the mamouth Sz 70 and 72 helmets.

It seems Eisenhuttwerk Thale was always charged with making the "odd-ball" helmets. I know you'd like to see it published somewhere. That does make me curious as to why it hasen't quite happend yet this way.
