Hi guys! Wanted to show you, the restoration /resurrection/ of my Bulgarian Navy dagger. It is the type, made by Cadets in the Naval School workshops. As far as I know, each cadet made one of his own, according to given standards.
Unfortunately, it came to me broken - only blade and scabbard present. But fortunately /or not!/, some nice guys make such fake daggers, so cast spares can be found on the market. Some sanding, drilling, fixing - and here it looks like a complete dagger! The handle looks too bright, but it is only the photo, it is nice ivory color. Still I want to do more work on it /especially to make the cross part thinner/. Also have to make the second hanger ring.
Anyway, here it is, I hope you like the restoration result so far!

I hope it looks good Smile An old leather bag donated the leather piece at the base of the blade.

The Predov daggers book shows these hangers - and I found a pair of exactly such hooks in my boxes of spare old things - buttons, boards, hooks and etc.!! Maybe I could use the black straps from commie time naval hangers, but the brass lion heads will be a problem, hard to find!

I have found that with the rare non German daggers, that you often have to restore them if you want an example.

This looks to be a great restoration.
