Is it possible that this a later badge incorporated into a larger one that commemorates or honors something that happened in 1920 ?
The reason I pose the question is that 1920 is very early to see fully developped enamel badges with a swastika. Perhaps TeNo was founded in 1920 (or some similar notable TeNo event took place)and early/charter members got their early (and low numbered badges) sometime later, but mounted in a fancy device.
(Absolute conjecture on my part !)

Craig Gottlieb's archives show that he has had and sold both - two cased ones, one dated 1922 and one 1920. He states in his ad for this badge "This is a fine example of the award for a member who joined in 1920, which is quite rare--most examples encountered are 1923 dated." Jack Angolia confirms this on page 138 of "For Furher and Fatherland: Political & Civil Awards of the Third Reich." He also states that it was limited to members who joined the TeNo between 1919 and 1923 but wasn't awarded until 1935. Hope this helps. ~ Ian

TENO URKUNDE – for the Ehrenzeichens (HONOR BADGE)
The year dated TeNo Honor Badges themselves are deservedly very sought after Badges for we Collectors. Paper items seem to be even harder to find than cloth or metal items – as so many conditions destroy the paper.
I’ve been very fortunate to acquire the URKUNDE for the Awarding of the TeNo Honor Badge, Number 1638, of the 1920 Honor Date – & awarded on October 1st, 1935. (Which was, I believe, the initial awarding date for this series of Badges. The Badge honored the long serving active TeNo Cadre Members of 1919 - 1923 Dates, with uninterrupted tenure.
(This is the 1st TeNo Urkunde which I have personally seen – although others do exist, as I've noted subsequently.
If someone is Lucky enough to have the 1920 TeNo Honor Badge # 1638 – then we need to do some serious talking!!!
Apologize for the Posting size, but the Urkunde is really detailed & is HUGE = 11" x 16". The printed copy of the Medal itself and is Larger than Lifesize at 3" x 2" & actually has the 1920 Date on it!
Txs, Dave / dblmed

TeNo Honor Badge "Types" -
From what I have seen, and have read, there appears to be 3 Different TeNo Honor Badge Types (i.e. 'Makers')
The 'Assembly' of each appears to be the same: 2 are Maker Marked, by different Makers 1 is Unmarked (Maker is unknown).
From just recently reading Littlejohn's "Defending the Reich," I have learned that:
A) There were ONLY about 5,500 TeNo Honor Badges awarded (That's all!) B) The TeNo Honor Badge was authorized to be worn for only less than 1 year (during 1935-1936). C) After mid 1936, the Badge Holders could keep their badges, but they were issued a "Honor Date Cuff Title" to wear on the right sleeve. D) The Badge Number was NOT the TeNo Mann's ID Number! E) At some point in 1944 - the TeNo Honor Badges could be worn again.
Lots of Great TeNo Information in this book. Txs, Dave/dblmed

Paul, That is really a quite nice 1923 TeNo Honor Badge / Ehrenzeichen!
It looks like the issue Number stamped on the reverse, might even be a very low 3-Digit one - looks like ...15X - but, I can't see all of the numbers, for sure?
Do you have another foto of the Issue Number? ...Txs, Dave/dblmed

1 Posted for Wilhelm Krieger Here is Wilhelm's very nice 1922 Cased TeNo Honor Badge, by Karl Hensler, which was referenced above. As PVON noted, Cased examples are very hard to find!
The 'Image' size constraints (of ALL of the Forums) are a constant challenge to get down to an acceptable size! (I did a screen capture & then resized your images in Photoshop.)

The green lining is a bit unusual, as the vast majority of cases have an off-white / cream colored lining. This is only the 2nd on of these that I've seen (& I'm sure that there are many others!) To my knowledge, there was not written specification of the color to be used for the lining - so the TN Badge manufacturers (X3: Hensler & Fühner & the "Unknown") probably subcontracted for the actual Cases, IMO.
Two (2) colors of Cases for the TeNo Honor Badge have been found. One type in very, very Dark Blue (Almost Black)- the most frequently seen, and a 2nd type in a Reddish / Maroon color. (There also may be other colors, of which I am not aware?)
Sometimes, a Collector gets really lucky, and finds a Case with either one, or rarely both, of the original labels on the reverse! One label has the matching Honor Badge Number & the 2nd Label has the recipient's name on it. ("German Police, Vol. 2" has a foto of one of these rare TeNo HB Cases.)
Wilhelm, your NET Image's file also shows your tip-top TeNo Hewer, and TeNo Officer's Dagger (& a great GPB, Gold Party Badge.) CONGRATS! You've got great collection, with only what I've seen so far! Keep it up! ... Best.. Dave/dblmed

Thanks for posting my pictures Dave. I will figure out the computer programs someday! lol The golden party badge is documented and belonged to an S.S doctor and has 20 pages of copies of his membership....he was listed as an S.A adjutant as well w/pictures from microfische. I have a few nice things.(crown jewels are my great grandads rhinoserous hide zulu shield and his queen Victoria medals from Bristish Army with his name) Just aquired a rare TENO stickpin that is the cogwheel grey in color with TN in the middle. Got it from Charles Schnyder (the dealer) last week. He has a second one in stock with a shorter pin. It does not have any markings on the back of it though.
