looks like the helmet/swas. from a Wound Badge... What is it made out of? Could the pin plate be glued to the helmet?

ya that is why it looked so familiar a made up piece from a wound badge good eye G not bad for an old guy ps and that is calling the pot black

It does appear to be the same exact size and design as the helmet from a wound badge, so that makes sense.
The opening in the latch is on the bottom where I'd assume it would be on most pins. The photo makes it look like there's not a gap where there actually is one.

How big is it? If it is 2 - 3 inches, then it was made originally for a photo album. I have one but it is in storage and I don't have pictures. Jim

It's about 1" wide and 1/2" tall, same as a wound badge helmet.
