Hi friends, I am thinking of buying a Ortsbauernschaft-Standarte with silver fringe, rings and the name on the cloth. But I wounder, the townname is on a white cloth with stiched black letters. also the letters are stiched in a way I have not seen. Could you plese check if this is an original or should i pass on it? Thanks for an quick answer, since I have to let the person know by tomorrow! thanks again Dirk

hi,,,i believe this is original, but unusual for an orts type flag,,,i believe they usually had a blue panel with white lettering, but depending on the usage of this banner, maybe the poliical flag parameters are not in use here,,just my opinion,,,Robert

It's fine. It's not an NSDAP Ortsgruppe but as the panel indicates the Orts group of the Reichsbauernschaft.

The standard NSDAP Ortsgruppe flags seem to be in the $650-850 range, more or less, depending on the condition and who's selling it. I have an average one now and it's priced at $700.
The more obscur organizational flags, like this one, would start lower. At a show, I'd expect to see a $550 price tag but it wouldn't fly off the table...

Any Bauernschaft flag is a rare find; looks to be in nice condition as well. The pre-Nazi flag of this organization was black with a silver plough with a red sword across the plough. The pre-Nazi organization had enameled membership stickpins w/the plough/sword design. I knew personally the head of the West German Bauernschaft, Thies Christophersen, who during the war was an Army Sonderfhrer working on agricultural projects, he died in 1977. When I asked him what "Bauernschaft" meant, he said it was like our "Farmers Grange" association.

The wording on the one patch is merely a continuation of the wording on the front patch, as so: "Gangkofen und Umgebumg" (for a full sentence). The u. stands for "und". It means the town of "Gangkofen (in Bavaria) and its Surroundings".

This is an interesting thread. You both have very nice, early flags and I too like the static swastika as you don't find them often.
Cheers!
