Except for that big casting flaw in pic #6, #1 and a few others, I don't think that for a repro it's all that bad at all. Just my opinion!

If you look at the back of the ring, to the right of the Ty-rune circle, the leaves are going in the wrong direction. How'd that happen?
Hop around the website and look at other originals and you'll see plenty of other discrepancies, as well. This is a reproduction, unfortunately.

Starky,

I'm with Mark & Josias, it's a reproduction. But, it's a nice looking reproduction indeed. I wouldn't mind having it in my collection, if only to look at. Did you pay a reproduction price for it?

Here's a couple pics of 2 TK Rings I made years ago. I did the carvings in wax, had them cast, and did the finishing. The one with the skull is wide because it was intended to be a master for a wax mold. (wider due to vertical shrinkage). The one without the skull was never completed because my caster boved away. The engraving was also cast.Hope to resume production someday but the inscriptions will be engraved by hand, not cast.

Also notice how tall the triangle is.By the time a mold was made, and subsequent wax copies made, it will have shrunk vertically to it's normal shape.

Super work Josias. If you ever resume production on these, please keep me in mind for one of your pieces.

Billy G.,
Yes, purchased as a reproduction. I got it from a friend of mine that picked it up at the last Tanner show in Denver. It came with a box that I didn't post with the last pictures.

Josias....very nice work. I hope you get to complete your project. I would like to see one when it is completed.

I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this question. Did Himmler always dot his (I) when he signed documents? I know the dotted (I) is a dead giveaway for a repro Himmler dagger.

Thank you for the compliments. As a jewelry sculptor, I've always wanted to make a nice example of the Totenkopfring for myself as well as for other worshippers of this most unusual and beautiful ring. Don Boyle has the first copy I made (a one-off) and, by my own admission, it wasn't that great. When I resume production, he'll receive another one. I don't have casting equipment. I do the sculpting and finishing and burnishing, but I'll have to have someone cast them. I, of course, will do the inscription engraving. (con't)

I have no plans to mark the rings as repros because I don't believe that someone wants a ring with a dopey stamp saying "Repro". A well done TK ring is such a thing of beauty, it would be ruined by the addition of such a mark.
Besides, with all the intricacies of the design, it's virtually impossible to duplicate everything exactly anyway. Since all the traitorous little Communists in our country dislike our Commander-in-Chief so much, perhaps I'll inscribe them S.lb Bush 21.12.6 Now, there's a rare one for you!! I will try to get this thing off the ground within the next 6 months and will let everyone know. Thanks again for the kind words. One more pic: I know the skull's a little funny!!

Josias,

Honestly, you do really nice work. For what it's woerth, I would be happy to have one that said reproduction on it. In fact, it might be better to do that on any you made to try and limit a faker's potential for scamming someone into thinking it was a piece.

Josias, I would like a few of them if you get into production. Very well done and fun to wear at the SOS and MAX shows!

I am very appreciative of all your kind comments. I'm going to go back over the replies of people who are interested and they will be put on a list to receive rings when I resume manufacture. I will try to contact all of you soon to get future contact information. I will also try to post a note on the forum if I'm allowed to do that. I've thought about the comments concerning marking the rings "Repro". Besides the aesthetic reason, I'm reluctant to do that because there will be some who will want to buy the ring without this mark because it ruins the appearance. I would be willing to comply with that request, so then it wouldn't make sense to stamp just some of them. I feel that if there were discernable marks placed into the background, and that was announced when the rings were sold, everyone in the collecting community would be aware. When a new reproduction pops up, especially a good one, the word will get out. When I make these rings, they WILL be good. Please be patient, as this will take time, as I'm going to investigate the possibility of having them die struck, as that seems to be the popular belief as to how they were made. It would also be easier to do the engraving on a flat bar, instead of a curved surface. It may be cost prohibitive, however. If not, I'll cast them. The engraving will be done by hand engraving.
