hello,

I am looking for an ss wedding ring and came across one on germania international's website.

I was wondering if anyone has had dealings with this house and what your experience was like... overall.

There is a ring there but I cant quite tell from the description if it is being offered as a reproduction or an original.....

I know I can ask the dealer about the ad, but I would like a more objective interpretation of the ad.

CJC , My opinion is that this ring is a reproduction. There are few of these type of rings being made currently. ,G.

Christopher, I own one like the one you posted by Germania International. It has no marking inside but is an exact match on the outer side. I bought it some years ago. Maybe it is real, but I don't think so.

There is an weddingring offered in an internet-auction and the seller promises, that it is original. Is it possible to tell something about the ring by these bad photos? A fake, I presume? Kolibri

I would say with that SS mark its wishful thinking ...
There used to be a couple of companys faking these. One had a very messy joining seam, the other was very neatly done. After checking both companys seem to have disappeared...

Here is a scan from Dons book showing the same exact ring. Notice he writes the company that originally made them is still in business! Wouldn't doubt they even still had the tooling to make them...I wouldn't touch any of tham as a collectable unless it had a very good provenance....,G.

I own the Hemmerle Juweliere woman's ring pictured in Don's book and it is of a much higher quality than the repro Kolibri has posted. The original does not have inside markings apart from the gold content. I visited Hemmerle, still at the same address on the Maximilianstrasse in Munich, where they have made Court and Imperial medals for years. They did reluctantly admit that they manufactured the ring and box pictured in Don's book, and now in my possession, and that it was made during the NS era. I also have one of the cheap copies like in Kolibri's post, and the workmanship does not compare.

I found the repro I bought several years ago, here are some angles for study. It is marked 800 on the outside seam. I wish!

If you have 20/20 vision..it looks really nice! (You have to 20' away and moving at 20 MPH!)

Here are some pics that I promised awhile back. I did check the Germania Website. The ring they are listing is a copy, although I wasn't so certain that they made that clear in their description. I also have a copy similar to theirs, presumably from the same source in Georgia. It is the silver ring pictured, and I assume that it was modeled after the gold, boxed ring pictured here.

I contracted with a local jeweler to make a more accurate copy. Apparently it wasn't very challenging to him, so whomever made the copies from the original was not a very talented jeweler.

The boxed ring was manufactured by Hemmerle Brothers, Muenchen. It has been authenticated by them at their store, albeit reluctantly. This is not the sole example as their records show that they made a "number" of them, although their records do not show how many, nor for whom. It is a womans ring. Hemmerle retains original artwork and sketches, although they do not allow public access.

If someone would like more detailed pics, I will be happy to oblige. Please feel free to comment and thanks for looking.

Thank you very much for showing this highly interesting ring which does bear so much secrets. And such a rare item.
If you would show even more detailed pics it would be appreciated most.
Also very interesting original signed promotion doc and a Jul-candle doc. I am so sorry I recently missed one of them very close.

I like those pics as well. Can you post more of them? Will the jeweler who made yours make more for you, or us?

I think Germania International is waht he means

unless there was some sort of supporting documentation were they just runic rings? Wonder if anything stating they were for SS?

There is a universe of difference between that copy ring and WResearchs ring!!

You still around WResearch? Do you still have this beauty? any research you've done on it?

"Anonymous" in this post and several others is me, Kingtiger. It seems my posts were just not credited for a while when I was not a member, during the Gottlieb years. I still have that ring I posted.
