Gentlemen,

I was wondering if it is possible to tell which is the first letter in this person's initials ?
Is it the "G" or the "W" ?
Danke

I always thought the letter with the horizontal stripes was the first letter of the last name but I could be wrong Smile

"G" would be the surname, "W" is the first name.

The W is in front of the G at four (4) points.
The W is behind the G at only three (3) points.
That would seem to place the W before the G.
It's subtle, but it is there.
This leads me to believe that it was intended to read W.G.
Which is in agreement with what DONS has stated.

Best Regards,
Robert

Patrice: If that's what you would like to believe, then that's what you should believe. Is there anyone out there that could prove you wrong? Big Grin Roll Eyes

As was mentioned above, I think that there is was protocol on how the leters were marked. I don't know what says, but I have read that before and probably here.

Pat, Nice Army!
I also agree in this case that the larger and more detailed G stands out for the first initial of a last name.
