I found this yesterday. M31 canteen with the early style 1/4L cup. The cup is nice original SS/RZM marked with the year 34. It looks the cup belongs to the canteen but the canteen is VDNS39 stamped what doesn't matches the year for my view. Any more input?

thanks for your great offer Jerry Wink
I leave it in the way it is and I got it.
The cap byself is a very hard to find item. Just check out the website from germanmilitaria.com there is such a cup offered, but the price is way way to much for such a cap in my opinion.

Nice set. This is like a lot of things (such as shoulder straps, EM belts&buckles, rifles&slings, and really most everything similar. They were not made as a set (or pair) and were mated at some point in the system past the factory. If that cup was made in 1934, I doubt that the SS was even wearing canteen mounted cups at that date...really I don't think the Heer had them by then either.

That cup may have been on that canteen since 1939 or 1942 or any year in between or after.

It probably has been with it since the war.
