Steel-Helmets decal graphics are not very good IMHO. DECALHELMET's decals are much more convincing, And I do believe they are currently fooling entry and mid level collectors. A good hands-on inspection with a credible return period is critical nowdays.

Its actually not their Fault but rather the Buyers fault for MAKING it Lucrative for them to make the decals and spend money to get the decals very accurate. If guy were not spending $6,000 on single decal SS Helmets then everyone would have been happy with the cheaper easier to tell decals, now the stakes have been raised accross the board and Armies are bringing $1200 for mint single decals and so on so these guys keep fine tuning their craft till the hobby is 100% s h i t

As I see it the high end reproduction decals, liners, etc keep getting better and better. The result will either be:
-Original helmet prices will rise faster that they have been (or)
-Most people will give up on the hobby and prices will go down the toilet!

You're blaming the victim for the crime. That wouldn't stand up in a court of law. Or maybe I should say "shouldn't" stand up in a court of law.

I stand behind what I said...may not have been well worded but If collectors keep this up you have to start pointing fingers at someone else other then the guys making repro decals.

Supply and demand. when people buy, they make more. I had bought a repo chin strap for my first helmet caus I wanted it to be complete, not to resel for a profit. After stumbling onto this forum and joining did I soon realize the value and mistique of all origionality. The bottom line is they will always make it, but if there is less of a market they would not spend the time making more and better.
(my repo strap is in the local landfill)

15 years ago, when postcards were $5 items, fakers were repro'ing postcards, then dipping them in tea baths and rubbing the edges and corners to age them! The industrial cost must have been close to the $5 price tag. Fakers will fake anything and everything -- this is not a function of $6000 helmets. It's a function of the German militaria collecting community not excommunicating those who sell fakes, as is done in most antique hobbies, such as the coin, stamp and furniture collecting hobbies.
