Up for your opinions pro and con. I added a repro for comparison. Camera shots lack the quality that shows a novice of photography.

The detail can bee seen clearly between the two. Even in a lousy picture.

VERY INTERESTING to say the least has some of the characteristics of a numbered PAB.

Paul, I read that the numbered badges were the same in comparison except the number plaque. But, who knows?

This badge does not seem to generate much interest or opinions. I am very thick skinned and honest comments does not ruffle my feathers. I was looking for help but no problem,I will keep looking.

be patient unlike another forum here you will get well thought out replies after some personal research normally. This badge is very debateable and very few have any knowledge to make a comment even mine was very vague . I think if you posted this over at WA you would just get beat up.

I was researching as you wrote. I do not like to comment without facts to back me up. In the mean time could you take some close ups on white or grey background of just your badge?

I understand this is a tough nut to crack, it's very hard to make a judgement call on something that has little information and no originals to compare with. Here are what I hope to be better pictures. Thank you for the advice.

Kinda hard to see in your photo's, but the catch looks like the "sheet metal" catch used on Souval fakes.

Flyboy,,, Yourt latest photos 1 thru 9 .. The catch looks like its the postwar Souval catch. Just a little better shot, without the pin in it and we'll be able to tell...
I believe they awarded the docs to these badges and maybe even entries in the soldbuch,,but you not going to find one in a period photo or one with direct German vet provenance. They were probably made but not given out [?]...
There is a famous old example in N.Y. from the McCarthy collection ,,and D. Niemann has certified one a while ago to sell,,,but what did he use as a standard for the basis of his certification??

Flyboy, Sharp images. One more of the catch from a slight angle please. It does appear to be a post war style catch.

My thanks to all of you who have commented. My questions and concerns have been resolved. I am not out anything on this piece as I sold the 100% period SS belt buckle that was in the buy for 400 bucks. So I'm happy with that, I came out 200 bucks ahead. I still have the party armband, antenna pennant, small photo album and police armband which are also 100% period original. Not too shabby for this hunt and find. Thanks again, Flyboy

Flyboy, my thanks to you. We all learn from investigation and research and become better educated collectors for it. Thanks for showing this badge and hope to hear and see more from you.
