Just wanted to share an image of my modest collection for general interest and to ask a question re my NSKK.
Dagger inventory comprises
33 SS Boker ground Rohm 39 Puma HJ 38 Eickhorn NSKK 36 Balke SA early Eickhorn RAD EM
My question is,what would the approx value be of the NSKK - it is near mint, plated fittings 100% cross grain, painted scabbard and with manufacturers tag. More pics available if required.
Thanks for you're interest

Kriegsmariner, that's a very nice looking display! Can you show more pics of the NSKK? Is it a "transitional"? Regards, Leizpig

Thanks for the comment. Honestly not sure if the NSKK is transitional. Scabbard is factory painted, fittings plated as opposed to NS and it is marked as follows On the blade near cross guard; RZM M7/66 1938 Eickhorn Solingen Reverse of paper tag; M7/66 Front of tag; 047193
Pics attached

There you go! Yes, a transitional or double-proofed NSKK. Simply put, a dagger which displays both the early makers-mark and the RZM mark. Super dagger! Value? A major U.S. dealer has one on his site for $1895. I would think that sold from collector to collector would be less, perhaps around $1500. Keep in mind that NSKK's are far more scarce than S/A's. Hope this helps! Regards, Leipzig

Guys, based on the assumption that this is a transitional then, and it's condition, do you have a views on market value?
Thanks and regards

Hello, Nice collection. I would take a good guess that the dagger worth is in the ball park of about $2100-$2300 with the tag and because of the tag before the slump in the economy, if no tag then about $800-$900. Now if the economy keeps heading the way it is (it will) and if you had to sell it today knock off $450, this summer knock off $700-$800 or more because things will get real bad by then, but when things start to turn around and they will just a matter of when (2-3 years) then it's worth will be about what i estimated it at. This value was base on what they were selling for (reasonable dealers sites i.e. J. Shaffer, P. Hogel) before the economy started to head south. But keep in mind this is what a dealer would ask and i always knock of at least 10% when i sell or estimate my items. This is close to the value of your Tagged Near Mint Dagger and not an exact science, nice one KM!, definately a keeper. It would be unissued mint if no runner marks or plate lifting and had the bag.
Now the value of these common SA/NSKK dagger took a jump because of the rumored Wittmann book (over a year and a half ago) that i believe was contribed to do just this raise the prices on a average dagger, we still have not heard from Mr. Wittmann on the progress of the book or any info when it will come out. It might be too late when and if it does come out as the economy will be in the tank and the average collector will be unable to afford it or care about it as they had to sell their stuff to keep a roof over there head. Next year at this time if you had to sell it you will be lucky to get $1000.
Just my 2 cents worth, EW

Outstanding Leipzig! What bag is that? Love the ones without runner marks or very light at worst that ASSO is mint condition. I too had a facination with NSKK and RZM marked pieces at one time but turned my collecting in another direction.
Mongo i have seen these at Militaria shows, next time i find them i'll pick up one or two and post them here in the "for sale" forum. They are an excellent way to display daggers and keep dust off. EW

Thanks All! Mongo, the display box came with the dagger so I don't know where the guy got it. It is "store-bought" though. Eric, the bag is simply printed SA Dolch but it also has written in ink "Saugel 9 RM" I assume that was the S/A guy's name and how much he owed. I've been trying to post the blade reverse since yesterday but got "error" message. Here it is. Regards, Leipzig

Mongo are you asking about the display cabinet in the first photos or the single display case.Display cases can be bought at shows and for special daggers contact WWII Bill Warda as he makes great cases.Baz69 (Gary)had a couple made by him

Just for information, the display case I have used for my collection was originally a piece of old shop display kit; timber construction and used for displaying model cars. Should be easy to replicate except the sliding doors and glass shelves are tempered glass. My conversion involved painting the case to match my office, lining it with buff suede effect fabric, making up the recessed holders for the insignia from foamcore board and covering with suede and having some acrylic holders made up for the daggers.
The light fitting and wall brackets are kitchen and home stock gear from a B & Q type store.Hope this helps. KM
