Nice early knife Eric. The mark is LFS in an oakleaf. I don't think the identity of the mark has been discovered, but it is probably the manufacturers maker mark of the scabbard or the leather hanger. I've seen this on scabbards of both early and RZM marked knives.

As Russ says nice early hj, the LFS i believe is the manufacturer of the leather hanger, its not uncommon to see this on hjs of various makers.
are you looking to purchase or sell it?

also the scabbard should just have one runner inside it, if theres two, it will have been taken from a later hj.

Thanks guys I appreciate it,am thinking of buying it kind of need to know a approx. value, they are asking 350.00 but may be able to get it for less what do ya think? The scabbard has only one runner and has a thin leather piece on it to keep it from scratching the blade I guess.

I would say $350 is the full value in todays market for it's condition. If you can get it a little cheaper say $275-300 you would easily be able to get your back if you needed to resell it.

thats not too bad in this day of crazy hj prices, its missing the leather buffer on the blade. if you mananged between 300-350 i think you'd do ok. Blade is sharpened but remains very good shape, although close up photos would be better, the diamond and maker mark looks in good clean conditon. Along with the motto, a nice knife good luck

I've seen worse go for more. At 350, it's round about what a dealer might sell it for, but I still think that is not a bad price. It's an early knife with the early grip plates, motto, and not sharpened too much, retaining a nice blade shape. Good maker mark, and leather on the scabbard, good diamond. The only thing it's missing is the leather buffer on the blade, but early one's are often seen without them. Would be a good buy at 300 I think.

350 $ = 235 EUR, that is in my opinion a good price for this HJ knife. You cannot find this currently on dealer sites, I think. If you do, let me know which dealer that is...
Best greetings,
Herman

Thanks for all the opinions guys!Herman your right I looked on some dagger sites you couldnt touch this knife for 350.00 on any of them ,got it for 300.00 a great deal I think.I looked on whitmans dagger site and he would be asking 500.00 or more for this knife! He had an early one on there a little better shape but not much for 799.00!!!No leather buffer either, but that is unrealistic I think.Anyway a decent later rzm no motto would bring 350.00 on any site I looked at,maybe a military show dealer would sell you one a little cheaper. At any rate I am keeping this one.
