That caps looks to be a later period cap that might have been restored with early style insignia. My 2 cents.

So we could date it between 1940 and 1943? No air vent, is this teh reason? Or the lack of the leather inside?

Has the pull down loops under the ear flaps that are characteristic of M.43's. The 'classic' bergmutze is really a different cap with its features--short visor, steinuss/corozo nut buttons, horsehair stiffener, sweatband, T-form insig etc. I think this is a mid to late war piece...I am unsure when the pull down loops began appearing on caps but I associate that feature with a later period style. Again, only my 2 cents. The insignia on the piece is not original to it in my opinion, the white on green T-form would be correct on an early bergmutze. Ideally this cap should have the mouse gray eagle/rosette trapezoid.

The Steinnussbuttons are used till 1935, said my Angolia! After that the metal-buttons are normal. This is not a M43 hat. It has a very short Visor. The colour of the cap is the same that the early GebJgMtzen are, not the fieldgrey of the M43. Do you need other fotos to give me more informations?

Here is an early one that had its insignia restored post war. It has the grommets, corozo nut buttons, full leather sweatband and the horsehair stiffener in the front. I am unsure of the timeline on your cap, maybe early 40's?

Andy, very nice officer's uniform set! Your field cap almost looks like the green-blue cloth of the Schupo. Of course, this could be caused by the lighting and my monitor, but I would check it out.
Cheers, Marcus

Madandi,
Your cap does look to be a Polizei M43 . The cloth does look like police blue green. As Marcus says it may be the light but I don't think so. Still no matter what it is a nice cap. Joe

Yes indeed! The color is more bluish green than fieldgreen. But i thougt that all early mountaincaps have this bluish-green. But have a look at the small visor! This cant be a M43-Cap. Did the Police have such caps with small visior?

In answer to your question yes and Police insignia would be a perfect color match too.

Robert,
Your cap may have been restored with the wrong insignia. The inside marking appears to be "RFV" which would indicate the Reichs Finance Verwaltung. Customs caps are marked in this manner and also have the T bar insignia with the eagle with upturned wings. The Landzoll also had mountain troops who wore these Bergmtzen.
I hope this information is helpful.

Dittos there, I sold that piece some time ago but did not like the T-form mouse gray insig. Thanks for the info.
