Have you ever heard the story about craftsman in Germany, who used to work officialy in a "dagger business" in a 3rd Reich days, and continued to fix the daggers after the capitulation, because the demand for "war souvenirs" was so great? It is believed that he used mostly the original parts, but some parts, however, can be distinguished from genuine ones. For example M36 SS had eagle with slightly deformed swastika. There are some very little dimension differences in some parts as well. Anyway, I've heard that story from couple of different people, that are not new to the hobby, so I wonder if this can be truth. I traded the M36(which was 100% good for me) for W-SS uniform back in '98, and I remember that one of the next owners complained that the dagger was late 40's assembled "souvenir dagger" (but didn't want to sell it back btw.)

Don't know about SS - SA and Luft are very common late 1940's made with period and new parts. SA are B&A marked and Luft are marked Solingen, Germany.

I recall purchasing an Army dagger for about $5.00 in the late 1950's. It had a cheap leather sheath with no means of hanging it from a belt. Worst thing of all, the eagle was de-nazified......
