anyone know about S&L as the latest-known producer of the knights cross of the war merit cross?

there's one I'm interested in, marked "4" and "935" -looks really great in pix. but some say the discovery of this maker is too soon to conclude anything about authenticity.

one guy even said on another forum S&L continued making these after '45! (for GIs I guess...)

here's a pic - many thanks!

the S&L cross had distinctly different numerals the the ubiquitous 1 and this displays that. What it is missing is the frosted matte finish you look for in these. I would walk no run, and wait for a textbook example

THEY said S&L made allot after the war and where probaly correct but where are they all. I do seem to detect some vestiges of the finish in the corneres but not enough to be sure certainly a well worn cross if correct be careful. Are any of the authors of the CROSS book on this forum ?

I've been offered a RK of the KVK without swords from a friend today. I looked but haven't found one for sale on anyones site so I don't know what the value is these days. I don't have a photo, maybe this weekend, but he said it's an early one marked 900 and in a blue case. Any idea what a ballpark figure is?

Thanks Paul. My friend was talking around $5000. I did find a few on Weitz site which are almost double. I doubt I'll go for it, but I'll see if I can get photos this weekend.
