Has anybody ever seen a police sword made by Friedrich Swerk of Solingen? I have never seen one by this maker and was wondering if anybody had.

Not to hijack your thread here but thought I would follow-up with an example. Pay no heed to the port. It's a post - war.

Its a Police sword trademark that I dont ever recall seeing myself which would not be unusual because there are still things coming to light 60 + years later. The SS Kulturzeichen is present on both the knuckle bow and scabbard top mount which would tend to indicate that the company had the approval of the SS to be a supplier. And with Pauls example there are also I think a couple of unusual things with the swords construction as seen in the images. The blade and scabbard mounts look like nickel plated steel, but the collar on top of the grip looks to be brass, and the pommel nut looks like it might be nickel plated brass (?). And copper wire as a wrap on the grip all of which in the post 1938 time frame (insofar as the use of copper) would not be what I would normally expect at that late date. Because these are relatively new to me it would be interesting I think to see if the one originally cited has the same characteristics. FP

The fittings on Paul's sword, with a couple of exceptions (the pommel cap being one), look a lot like "Muller" or "Dachau" fittings to me. Could the "maker" have been a distributor of those swords? If that's the case, he must not have sold very many, at least not with that logo.

Yes an interesting piece. The copper wire in my experience was used by a few makers Roth being the 1st to come to mind. The brass upper ferrell is an enigma to me. I thought it may have been poorly plated and perhaps the plating lost to time? The lower ferrel, and nut are both solid nickle. I know the nut may appear to have brass coming through, it's just a reflection.
