Interesting engraving - Is that gold leaf of some sort? I think I have seem a similar style of font used on an ARMY in the Johnson book...

Thanks to the 4 members who know a nice dagger. I bought this from one of the BEST collectors around. I have been asked about the price IF i was to sell it. Well i have to consider selling it before i think of a price : Thanks for the comments. I would have thought there would be more than 4 by now. So it's either a problem that it's not a navy or attitudes.

I always try to stay away from those special etched/engraved items because 99% are faked. So I also do not like to comment them. But I have to admit that this one looks very well and period done. There are several points in the inscription which personally did convince me. Nice. And the dagger itself is out of discussion a good looking, untouched one.

Beautiful dagger!
Wotan, are "Gewidmet von..." and "Gewidmet Vom..." interchangeable? Could you tell us what you like about this inscription?
