Hi all,
was browsing a local pawn shop after a friend said he saw some German daggers in there. Happened to be near there today so went in and started looking around. There was an Army dagger on the shelf but the one my friend described sounded more like an SA. I asked the clerk and he brought out an SA that had just been taken in but was not ready to sell yet. The problem is the store lighting was very poor and I didnt have my glasses or a magnifying glass with me to read the maker mark. Dagger was an early one with nickle fittings, no RZM mark, scabbard was anodized and very dark with some spotting on it but not worn at all. Handle was fine, blade had no nicks but lots of runner marks, Gau mark was a B, crossgurads had a bit of green "stuff" where it met the wood handle, maker mark appeared to be an oval with a proper name like "eric smith" , maybe CO. after that, definitely said Solingen, symbol appeared at first glance to be a stik figure type house or eyeglasses but might have been the crossed key logo? Is there a page anywhere that shows maker marks? I did see a page with a cross reference of Gau marks with corresponding makers but didnt see anything that looked familiar with the "B" mark. DOnt want to go back to the store and seem too interested, any ideas from the info I provided or is it just not enough and Im waiting the 30 days to go back?

how are you? Thats exactly what I was looking for, should have found it myself, sorry for the trouble. The logo was just as I thought , eyeglasses and a stik figure house, at least thats my interpretation,,

Is this a common maker? Any idea as to a decent price for this ? The shop hasnt come up with a price as of yet, Im sure it will be high though.

Konejung is neither a common or a rare maker, it’s somewhere in between
District stamp "B" on cross guard is correct for Konejung.
Value always depends on condition and it’s impossible to tell anything without good pictures.

Hi Cory, no problem at all. The price is going to depend on condition. As Nakida said it's in the middle of the rarity scale so they are out there. In todays economy I'd say between $500-750.

Thx for the replies, other than the excessive runner marks the dagger looked pretty good as did the scabbard which was very dark with prbably 90% or better of the anodizing left although it did have some spotting on it, should have brought my camera. The clerk said something about maybe $600 when it was ready for sale but he wasnt sure. So at that price not a real bargain.

$600 could be a bargain price if:

Blade is in good condition with no sign of being cleaned or messed with.
Motto and maker mark is intact and nice cross grain still remain along the blade,
Handle is free from cracks, chips, and cross guards to handle fits nice.
Scabbard condition is as good as u remember and dagger to scabbard fits nice.
If so u will probably have a sweet dagger to a very good price

biggest problem was lots of runner marks on the blade from in and out a thousand times,, also some spotting on the scabbard. Gonna wait a few weeks and go back to see when it goes up for sale, will try to take some photos. ALso it did have two pieces of the hanger but the belt loop piece was black not brown and appeared to be a later add on. The other piece was unmarked , nickle , not plated and correct brown leather.

Nakida's observations are right on the mark, as usual.

Sometimes I forget my manners, thanks to Nakida, Ray and the Russian. We'll see what happens when this goes up for sale. I might just go back and leave my number and ask him to call me when its ready. Maybe I can get some photos at that time,

Heavy runner marks could be annoying but it is inevitable on average dagger that actually has been worn more than 70 years ago, and don’t forget that those babies tells an interesting story for sure.
90% anodizing and some spots isnt bad, did u notice the condition of the scabbard fittings?

I sure like minty daggers but I also love the real untouched salty babies that have “the been there look” Good pictures is a must on this one
I attach a pic on a salty piece of mine that I like a lot, u can spot the maker miles away by looking on the grip
