I have posted this in the restoration forum, but received no replies. So now I post it here.
I need to find someone who can professionally restore a set of mounted medals for me here in the United States. The ribbons themselves are good and so is the needle, but the medals have been removed, and I will need to replace 2 of them (1 damaged beyond repair and 1 missing). I will have all the correct medals, so it is just the mounting that will need to be done.
Can anyone recommend someone who can do this for me?

Untill more answers are forthcoming you could type medal bar restoration into a search engine. Something should come up. Who ever you choose you should get a guarantee that you will recieve back what you sent.

Thanks for your input Joe. I will check around. I will also check at the SOS show. But I agree with you that references from this hobby is a must. I will only trust this to someone who has done similar work for a well known member of this forum. Also, medal restoration for Third Reich items like this is very different from U.S. restorations and has to be done in a certain way. This is why I have been checking on this forum.

Eric, is that an enbroidered TDB??
Easy quick thing for the medal bar is to go to a jewelery supply and get some split loops and reattach the medals. No its not 100% proper but a good temp solution...,G.

Paul Peters of Cincinnati, Ohio, can do it, as he's been putting together medal bars (& ribbon bars) for many years; I remember him doing it back in 1968. He was set up @ the SoS @ tables A51-58. But he's right up there in years, & may not have the eyesight nor inclination to do it much anymore. Dealers have told me that calls to make up special medal bars & ribbon bars have gone unanswered.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I checked around at the SOS show, and several people pointed to Reise House as the man with most experience and with the proper references. He actually did a fantastic job using period thread. What he also found out is that the medal rings never were attached as there were no signs of threads or clips inside the ribbons, and that the medals originally were only attached around the base. This must have caused the EKII to have come off during the war (after the photos were taken), as there was a loop that had been holding the EKII in place just over its center. I discussed this with Reise, if I should bring it back to what it looked like on the photo, or what it looked like after the EKII was reattached. We came to the conclusion that the correct thing was to bring it back to the latest KNOWN arrangement.
I also used the SOS show to gather together a few other missing awards in this group, which now is complete. I will post some photos later.
Again, thanks to all.
And to Gaspare, yes that is an embrioded TDB. One of very few known to exist, and this one with solid provenance.
