drbill,

Please be so kind as to explain your reasoning - I'm curious to hear anything constructively educating that you might have to offer . . .

drbill,

That is the kind of insulting and condecending reply to an inquiry that has driven so many away from the forum. Why not just give your opinion without putting down the person asking? This is why I "lurk" here and never post. It might make you feel superior in your knowledge, real or imagined, but this type of response does nothing to help others.

Hi the shape/contour of the cap body is wrong. The sweatband is modern and the interior stitching is improperly done. If you blacklight the cap you will most likely notice that the piping and most likely the white interior stitching both glow. The color of the interior lining is incorrect. These are just a few of the many things that are incorrect with this cap. Perhaps drbill will offer some insight as well, since he was the person that revealed the deception.cheers, Ryan

Hi,
It's a Michael Janke reproduction.

Kind regards,

I wasn't insulted by mrbill's response. I don't see why each person that gives an opinion has to back it up with figures and facts. It's an opinion. These forums are better served when an educated collector comes on here and displays something that is beyond his experience and he wants a sanity check... not a novice who doesn't have a clue to begin with.

And that's my opinion.

Jesper - as well as all the things Ryan mentioned, I believe if you can give us a close shot of the insignia it will be a fake Assmann skull and what looks like a pigeon head fake eagle.

Regards,

Tony

Nice, constructive responses from all (less Quantico). The stuff that should be expected here - thanks.

Hi Tony S I have missed your participation on the forum. Good to see that you have stuck it out when so many other knowledgeable people have left. Opinions are fine but it doesn't hurt to be civil and polite and a little welcoming/receptive to new members. Although I found nothing insultive in Drbills response I can see where some are coming from.cheers, Ryan

apologies to original poster if anything was construed to be out of line- all of us just need to educate ourselves before delving into collecting SS items- a virtual minefield these days-

Please accept apology!! Roll Eyes

drbill,

Nice return! I think it's nice to see some understanding - a lot of new fellows will appreciate it some day, and I hope a lot more will continue to keep asking questions - even if they are repetitively mundane! I think we owe an explanation for our comments when a question is asked and we respond - especially if we know constructive information that will continue educating "newbies". We all had to start somewhere, and I think this is how we all started out - asking questions. If nothing else, we should direct a "newbie" question to "search" out the topic on this Forum first, and if the question is still unresolved in the "newbie" quest for knowledge, we kind of owe it to him (or her) to offer some help if we know the answer!

I know I would pass any knowledge I have here if it were beneficial. I still respect and appreciate all of the understanding that genuine members here contribute every day - this is something all serious GDC members should be proud of, and continue to offer regardless of the amount of experience any member brings to the table . . . .

Brad
