WOW...nice catch rob. Zeker niet 1 van marktplaats of kapaza...(not one from local internet ads) Super dagger that's for sure.

I never stumble upon these beauties for affordable prices...Maybe that's just my problem....LOL. Affordable is defined by the person..not by the dictionary.

Erg mooi!!,

Groeten,

Peter

Kind regards,

Peter Jan

Rob, it will be my pleasure to help you. I will start with my published ranklists and lists of award holders when i get home, and check the German archives in freiburg later. If we have sucess there, Ill just charge you the 15.34 fee they charge me plus the copies. Will email you.

The 256 Inf reg was part of the 112 Inf Div, based at Truppenbungsplatz Baumholder. they were all but wiped out in Aug 1943 as Orel fell to the Soviet army. Remains of the division fought in and around Kiev, and in Nov. the division was disbanded. Lets see if this Oblt shows up in the published sources

something interesting before somone says that "kompanie-chef" is incorrect and therefore this is a fake post war inscription Big Grin

Both "kompaniechef" and "Kompanie Chef" were used. chef was applied only at kompanie level, and denotes permanent assigment as opposed to kompanie fuhrer which would denote temporary. Kommandeur applied only for Battallion and above
