It's always difficult to say based upon photos alone. Both the scabbard and the dagger appear to be original. The dagger may be a "ground Rohm" and appears to be such. The chain is a "Type 2" and appears to be of nickel-silver, as opposed to plated steel. The scabbard fittings appear to be of the same metal. If it is nickel-silver, it is more desirable to most collectors. I cannot tell whether the scabbard is "anodized" (blued) or painted. Generally, most collectors prefer the "anodized" type. The overall condition of the blade is very important. It appears to be reasonably nice in the photos, but there could be some subtle problems not showing up in the photos. You could get a wide range of estimated value and probably will. The number of "if's" is considerable and affects the value. If the chain and scabbard fittings are nickel-silver, the scabbard is blued (originally) and the overall condition is no worse than it appears to be in the photos, I would place a "dealer" value of between $5000 and $6000. Individuals, sellers and buyers, may agree on a value a bit lower, say $4500.

The blade has never been ground there is a smear of silicon grease on it for protection,Scabbard is
anodized if that helps.

The anodized scabbard, in my opinion, is a "plus." Could you post a close-up photo of the trademark, please?

With that trademark it would not be a Rohm dagger. It should be the oval one. With an anodized scabbard the chain and fittings are more than likely plated steel. It is not a text book 1936,but who cares!

Thanks for the additional photos. You can easily check the chain with a magnet to determine its material.

The chain links are magnetic,I never even thoght it would be a ground rohm as there is no grinding marks on it,The dagger was supplied by gailen david in 2000,he bought it from a veteran in maryland, kept it for 14 years then sold it on,then he bought it back and sold it to a terry carter in the uk who had it for a while then sold it to me.
