Got a small group of seven photos, which I all want to share with You here. They show a parade, very likely in a bavarian town, maybe Munich. Interesting flags here SS-Musicians (early headgear insignia ) SA again, note the old german flag That's why I think it is in Bavaria Butchers - Think German - Buy German SA again, note the different flags, german national flag black-white-red and the Swastika-flags, they look very dark, hard to imagine that it is a red flag ? and the last one of this group In my opinion these are photos before the Nazis took over the power in germany. What do You think ? Kind regards Robert

Robert,
I think you are right about the time frame. Note no daggers or swords in sight. Also, looking at the uniforms - like the shirts on the SS men - there is a variety of items that you did not see later on.

As usual, great photos, Robert. You can tell that it's pre1933 as the SA (and it appears the SS) are not wearing the shoulderboard, which was not introduced until 1933. I do think the swastika flags are red--certain black and white films used in the early days show red as black and blue as white. Also, probably not Mnchen, as no one is wearing Lederhosen. Erich

Very nice images,,,I would guess in my view that maybe this early ASS-Drum corp in image 2 [ If they are full SS members ! ] have just been issued these ensembles ad-hoc for this particular parade, they look very new and of course devoid of the swallows nests,ct,shoulder board and rank tabs, which seems strange because they are usually machine sewn from the factory ,,Stephen

Have to admit that they knew how to get the Crowds attention ..BEER !! Follow us if youre Thirsty No doubt about them being early shots ..no Flags in every window not even any hand held flags being waved --Early style Eagle on Visors --Propaganda leaflets all over the streets --I don't even see a Police presence for Crowd Control ..strange The lack of insignia could have been intentional to prevent identifying where the SA came from ..thus inflating the local SA numbers

Those are interesting photos. I'm certainly not a flag expert but I notice a few things that are odd. I see the tri-color flag alongside the rotated swaz flag. I have a tri-color flag (1926-28) with an upright swaz and I was told that the rotated swaz came later. Anybody out there a know the progression of the flag? Great shots anyway.

Going by the style of dress of the civilians, and some of the mobile swastikas on the flags, i would place this picture no earlier than 1930, 1932 at the latest..
The architecture of the buildings remind me of Rostock..
