Greetings. Here is, supposedly, the 1939 Yougoslavian Army Dagger. The scabbard I guess is from some sort of bayonet. Unlike Zet, I do not come across many great pieces he posted here, so for now, I am thinking of getting this one. Any thoughts/suggestions on this dagger, and what is the reasonable price for it. Unfortunately these are the only photos I have.

The scabbard is a modified Dutch M 1895 bayonet scabbard.

Hello.
As people have pointed out, this is a totally messed with dagger in a replacement (not proper to the country) bayonet scabbard. The two original fittings are not in good condition. the grip has been refinnished or replaced. And the blade has been messed with.
$50.00 maximum unless this scabbard is rare and can be sold on its own.
Even then, do not bother buying it. Either Zet or myself will be happy to sell you a good original at a reasonable price.
Just my opinion Jim

In fact , the scabbard could be sold on its own - even in this condition .. It is for the Dutch STORMDOLK trench knife , NOT the M95 bajonet . <p> It is wider , and has 2 rivets in the front part of throat , not 1 like the bajonet scabbard . Also note the angle of the backloop for wear on belt ..

For comparison ; Dutch Stormdolk & Dutch M95 rifle bajonet .

Johnson has a nice one on sale for $1050 so the price looks about right for a worn one.

Johnson has the wrong picture attached to his. Thanks anyway. My concern is there is no logo just oposite the Yugo eagle - does anyoune know if that is possible on pieces form the time? Also - when you look at the scabbard - the leaves have a very poor detail while on all examples I came accross they were quite nicely done. Finally notice the eagle on the scabbard - it stands out as beeing to bright - possibly a post war addition - as they were often gone from originals. Anyone has those in their collection and can share some pictures? Zet?

Here is one at Wittmann's site for $995. FULL SET though. http://www.wwiidaggers.com/20186.htm Silver emblem on the scabbard...weird. Are there any basic guidelines for those daggers?

Whittmans is correct. Note the material on the back of the hangers is missing.
Historically these do not bring what I believe they should. the price seems to hang around the $400 mark for a excellent example. The Ebay examples are not that good in condition.
Here is mine. I purchased this complete about 12 years ago in Germany and it remains the finest example I have seen. Note the original finish.
I list mine for insurance at $1,100.

I notice I have a second example that is 100% original but not the best condition. I will sell it for $500.

A shame the grip leather has worn off on this one. This is almost impassible to replace.

Mike, you live in Poland, the grip leather can easily be replaced by the craftsmen in Poland. I know because I lived there. Some of the best antique mechanics in the world live there.
But, that is why it is priced the way it is.
I bought this in Poland, by the way.

Hi I dont see any reason to replace the leather. Most of this daggers has the grip in this condition, or painted. In my opinion this the sign of the time.this the same situation with luft first model.Just my 2 cents.
