I was told that anytime you see ss runes in a diamond the item was not good? If not true I have probably passed up a lot of good things?

John Josef is correct,,, these so called SS buttons with the same exact markings are available as fakes from Reddick Enterprises of Pottsboro, Texas, shown in color in their catalog on page 21, picture "S", item 0104-028-047. So there's your proof.

Wow, I almost listed it as real thanks for the heads up, i should have listened to my gut feeling it never stears me wrong. Out of the collection it goes, this is the reason i stick to daggers too much crap out there. This one was free now i know why, Just curious what would a real button go for 20-30 bucks ?
Thanks

Yes, the dreaded runes in a diamond..also seen on bad SS officer's buckles..

BTW, this manufacturer did make political buttons, however getting an RZM stamp is as good as you're going to get, even if the button is meant for an SS uniform.

The SS-Runes in a triangle are correct on Allgemeine jacket buttons!
Where they are not correct are on SS cap devices.
Well if this is a copy and was free to you and is sold by Riddick whoever, than its a bloody good one and would be very hard to detect! Confused

Hooper. Do you have a picture of an original ss tunic that show the runes in a diamond on the buttons?

In 1960, in response to my ad to buy old war souvenirs, I got in from the same veteran, 2 black Allgemeine tunics horribly mothed, I mean really terrible, totally not able to be salvaged. So I carefully took off the buttons, insignias, etc., for my collection. The armbands were also in horrible shape so I left them on. Then sold off the stripped tunics at a gun show. One set of buttons is magnetic, not aluminum, very finely pebbled, marked RZM, with '63' in a circle, & the runes in a circle. The other set is in a locked case, so I don't have them at hand to check the markings.

HMMM, When you get a chance i would be interested to know what markings are on your buttons, I consider this to be free as i sold off the rest of the goodies that came with it and more than covered any losses if a repro. These are the last of the other items that were in the same cigar box but currently up for sale in the sale forum and comfirmed to be original threw posts here, heck i might just keep them.
