What makes it "transitional"? The seller says its rare, what makes it rare?  JohnJ

The early HJ's all had the motto and a maker mark. The transitional HJ's refer to when they went to RZM code mark with no motto. Most transitionals have a maker mark and RZM code, with motto...then RZM, no motto. A few(rare) were made with the RZM only and a Motto...until they dropped all mottos toward then end of 1938.
