Hey guys, I just picked up a wehrmacht prayer book. On the inside, its stamped
5. komp, Jfn.Regt.Nr118.
Anybody tell me what sort of unit this was?

118th motorized infantry regiment,part of the 36th motorized division under Generallt. Hans Gollnick..
Part of the 100,000 man peacetime army,personell mainly Bavarian
First saw action in France and was motorized in the autumn of 1940.Participated in the invasion of Russia via the baltic states and operated as part of army group centre as of 1943
