I started my collection of Old Hickory pocket knives in 1974, got my last one this week. They are all in unused condition. Display case is an orginal store case. I changed the inside to display them in a better maner.

Great thread Terry. I wanted to add to it when I first saw it. I'm glad it was brought to the top again. I will try to add some pics this weekend. I've had many over the years. I only kept some of my favorites. I kept the springers that Nimble1 had mentioned and a couple of odds and ends. Great collection, it's a very collectable area in and of itself. Thanks for sharing. Steve.

I've been collecting pocketknives since about 1980. I started with vintage to antique American knives, then vintage to antique German made knives.
I like Case, Schrade, Queen, Buck Creek (1979-1988) and New York Knife Co. to name a few.
The metal, glass & wood New York Knife Co. "Hammer Brand" display case with gold crush interior came from a Jersey City Hardware store as I was told.
I found it in a small antique store in upstate New York for $20.00 about 2002. The middle, knife support rack, was removed and is missing from the display case.

Swiss Army
Not the commercial stuff but the real ones issued to Swiss Army enlisted* men. I got them about 40 years ago from a colonel when I lived in Geneva in Switzerland.
Three generations with the top one - the largest - being the original 1891 model. The first 1891 knives had wood side plates. Mine is (I think) about a third iteration with synthetic sides.
Note no corkscrew.
Dave
* There was an "Officer version" version offered for sale in canteens/PXs that had a corkscrew, but it was not an issue piece.
PS - A new knife, also used by the German Army, was recently introduced.

Here are a few more of my favorite pocketknives.
It's good to check on these knives every couple of months.
I have not been buying the American made knives in the last couple of years except for the New York Knife Co. "Hammer Brand" display boxes with the gold & green crush and the celluloid pulls.

Correction: Winstead (sic), (Winsted).
American Knife Co. Winsted, Conn, from 1919 to 1955 and a rating of high. Goins lists the dates as 1919-1948 and shows a small history of the company. It was re-named the Kendal Mfg. Co. in 1948 and in the same year the name was changed again to Bukar Mfg. Co. In 1955 the Great Flood hit Connecticut and the entire business was washed away.

I won this beautiful 3 1/4", 16 blade "LUNAWERK" (A. Feist & Cie) multi-blade knife with mother-of-pearl scales on the popular action site 21, Oct. 2023 for $67.66 + $6.50 shipping with 3 bids.
The master blade is maker marked with "LUNAWERK" over "GERMANY" and "STAINLESS" on the back. The scissors are marked with "ROSTFREI". This knife was probably marked for export.
The knife is in fine condition except for two issues: the one small pen blade has a "Flea bite" (break) near the tip of the blade. And both (2) pen blades are "lazy", (the tip of the spring is lodged on the side of the unbroken pen blade tang). All the other 14 blades and tools "walk and talk" (they work well).
This knife dates from about 1915 to about 1940. Feist & Co. was owned by a Jewish family, and they lost their business about 1938 and the Feist family removed to Portugal.
The business was sold about 1938 and production probably ceased after Nov. 1944. The two minor issues with this knife do not bother me much because the knife is repairable and beautiful.

I sent that picture to my friend in Germany asking the same thing, I believe the 15mm hollow tube is for a cigar. The knife also has what I think is a cigar fork and a pipe cleaner.
The tweezers are metal and the toothpick maybe Ivory. These sophisticated, vintage to antique, multi-blade knives are greatly appreciated by the collectors in Europe.
I have seen a 25 blade LUNAWERK with tortoise scales in the original leather box sell for $499.99.
Here is one of the seller's photos of my knife.

Update of the 15mm hollow tube tool on the above LUNAWERK knife: My 2nd thought was the tool maybe a leather punch, this was confirmed by my friend in Germany:
"The pearl knife is nice. The tool is a leather punch. To make a hole in belts or horse equipment and things like that if needed in early days. Have silent days. We keep contact over the holy days. Greetings from Oberkirch. THOMAS"

A punch blade. On your knife it looks like a hollow punch. A reamer/awl blade with sewing eye is also used as a punch.

Yes Mikee, a hollow punch is correct.
This knife also has a regular punch as seen in the photo by the seller's thumb and if you look at my photo, behind the hollow punch, you will see an awl blade with sewing eye.
Your advertisement shows the Harrison patent punch as found on NEW YORK KNIFE CO. (Hammer Brand) knives. I had a Marshall-Wells knife made by N.Y. K. with the Harrison Patent punch.
