Ian, it appears that the grip and crossguard has been cleaned to a high degree. It is most unusual to see the gilting remain in such a high condition. Are you positively certain this sword has NOT been "tuned up"?
With no scabbard, the price is about half of what it normally would be...so my opinion is about $500 give or take. It's very dependent upon how the grip got so minty looking. It looks good to 'look at', but it's not natural at all.
Is there a story to this sword?
Mark

On the basis of the sword being an untouched piece and in top condition I would say 300 tops, as I mentioned on the other forum !
Mark has made some valid comments, it would be interesting to hear back

Hi, Ive had the sword a number of years and made the mistake of cleaning it early on [Realise now not to do], Not sure what "tuned up" is But it has not been messed with and all original certainly while ive had it, The sword has no history, Many thanks, Ian.

Hi Ian, "tuned up" is slang for having parts changed or something more radical than a good cleaning. It certainly is a good looker. It's amazing to see the gilting like that...that is what prompted me to use that term. Mark

What you see is the brass. not the gilt. Only a few swords do show the gilting, and some more do have the silver between the legs. Nice sword, but for me its too much cleaned. I do like the old patina.
