Hi Guys,

I watched this piece with a jaundiced eye until it leapt up over $1000 to end at $1396. My question, what is it, Hungarian? The name certainly sounds more slavic & while I've seen this style before, can't place it.

I've also seen the dragon motif on other axes but it was questionable if they were of German origin. The overall shape & design is very similar to many axes I've come across but the unusual blade form & leather wrapped grip are unusual. I was inclined to think this piece is postwar but have no reference to go by. The seller, "Mengoj", has been the subject of several threads over the years on GD, most notably because of some likely postwar blades (SS honor & SA Feldherrenhalle) & a Diplomatic dagger/sword combo he had listed on Eban. I'm not questioning this piece's veracity as much as just interested in what members think about it's origin, thanks.

Has a real H.R. Giger feel to it. least in the 1st image. I think the name last to first on the side plate is Czech in orgin. Just my thoughts. Its got a look to it doesnt it???

Hey guys,

since I am Czech, I can say that the text and name are indeed in Czech. From what I can read, it says: "Dedicated by the 65th.." The rest is hard to read. What a beautiful piece! Thanks for sharing.
