Recieved the list. It is GREAT!!! Now I can study up and prepare for the SOS.
As a side note, had there ever been any talk of making a army/ luft/ naval list and publishing it for sale to $benefit$ GDC like the McSarr list for SAs???
Not that I WANT to pay for it, but it may be a benefit to the site. Just a thought.

My list may be used for anything except selling. I intended mine to be free and used strictly to help. Please keep it with that thought in mind. Smile

Honestly, upon further thought I must agree with Mr. Roach. If there is one thing that our hobby and this site needs it is more open and free sharing of opinions and information and less trying to make a buck wherever possible (which is what is turning so many people in this hobby "off"). Thanks for the list agian and please disregard my previous "un-thought-through" suggestion.

The luft hoard is almost gone. Better send me the Roach list also. It looks like I might start filling that cabinet again.

It seems I'm the most recent to be bitten by The Bug. Well, actually, I was bitten some time ago when my dad thought he had a Diplomats Dagger in his grubby paws. Turns out he didn't though, according to the worthy folk at the BBC's Antique Roadshow.

Then a friend of mine showed me some of his collection and, well, here I am.

Would it be a major imposition for me, in my first post, to ask for the Roach List? Hope not.

Thanks Tyrel. I've been lurking here for a few days now and it looks like a good place to be. These Daggers have a great attreaction for me but I will have to educate myself about them pronto. Fakes and fraudsters abound.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to which should be my first book purchase?

The exploring series by TTW (Whittmann) is a good start. I am new as well and the book has lots of info to start you out. Additionally many nice people here to provide you direction and answer your questions.

True
If interested in Armys or Lufts, the book I would buy would definitely be those by Tom Wittmann. I have not seen any other to date that goes into the detail that Tom does in his books. Many "picture" books abound, but TW's have meat in them......

thank you denny,
anyone think nominations are in order for:

Community Service Award. This award is for selfless actions on behalf of individual collectors. This differs from the Patron award above in that the recipient need not serve our GDC community at all, but, rather, serves individual collectors or the collecting community in some significant capacity.

anyone?
