Hello John
The last dagger is the Ultra rare Lavita Army Officers daggers.
Peter, Thank you Yes some are semi hard to find, some are available on ebay once in a while , some are darn hard to get and others are. I worry more about the item being original, not the modern way of Mint by restoration, as some others prefer.
There are so many other daggers out there with almost the same, if not, even higher value than the Third Reich daggers. Most collectors like the TR because of the profit. In allot of cases the world daggers were made in Germany or have just as high manufactoring standards.

Bob speaks false when he says my collection overshadows his. Bob has as many German daggers alone that I have daggers in total.
together, along with Kurt, we have the ability to put together the ultimate reference site. I have promised Bob I will get off my butt and get photos up there and Kurt has expressed interest in posting a few of his.
So, I think things look bright for the future on Bob's site. By the way, Bob suffers the cost of the site by himself.
As to the daggers, some very rare and unusual daggers there Bob. You have more now I believe.

Hello and thank you. My collecting started about 20 years ago. I didn't really have allot of money back the so I got what I could. About 1993 time frame I jumped into the hobby with everything I got. I purchased www.worlddaggers named and paid for over 10 years worth .I used travel miles and hit every antique store that I could find. Just hoping for some luck. Some days I was lucky and others not. Imagine that after years of trying to collect German items I found that I prefer the World Daggers even more. I started researching the internet and every shotgun news that I could find. I used to write at least 30 letters monthly. All this for just a shot at finding something By 1995, I decided that I need to spend more time collecting daggers in general. Trying o gather all other items along the line wasted allot of money . By the time 2000 came around I have almost every dagger in the TR era that one could own and in some case 3 or 4 of that style. During that time with the buying, selling and trading of allot of daggers. I managed to build a 500 dagger collection. The collection was split almost equal between World & German. Almost So, like normal (For me) I got bored and sold off all but the military daggers in 2000. Then I sold a bunch of the world spares that I had. This is I got into the cloth and other items again Yes again . When I decided early last year to start selling off again I had 6 general tunics in my collection and allot of other things. Well now that it's 2007, imp still selling most of the collection and will continue to do so. I will retain the rare and hard to get items until last. Maybe even then I will just keep them So thanks for asking I will remain a loyal and buying collector of the World Daggers part of the hobby until I die.

Hi guys.
I have been collection militaria since 1967 when I graduated from High School. At that time it was primarily swords and guns.
In 1994, my wife and I moved to Poland to handle the financial aspects of one of the first privatized corporations after the fall of the wall. The first weekend I was in country, my wife took me to the Kohl Antique Bazaar in Warsaw where we found the world of non German daggers.
As I was prohibited from working in Poland, I spent the next 6 years traveling around Poland and Germany finding, researching, and buying daggers. For 4 years we attended every major Waffen Borse in Germany. In those years the non German daggers were not so well known or popular and we would literally purchase up to 15 daggers in a major event. This is the same time I corresponded with Kurt, and other major players to include LTC Johnson who was kind enough to dine with us.
I am a CPA. CPA' do not really deal with taxes, we are certified as auditors. Those who participate on this forum may note I am constantly on the look out for fraud. This is the result of 30 years of hunting for lies and deceptions.
By the time we left Poland in 2000, I had purchased over 200 non German daggers, compiled a list of trusted contacts in several countries, and written three pamphlets(yet to publish) on daggers.
I came to this forum because of Bob Rodgers and his interest in non German daggers.
It is my hope that Bob and I will be able to be more active int he hobby.
Jim

WOW, really nice guys!!
Jim was that you a few years ago that gave me the directions to that fleamarket,,I was calling it 'The Wheel'.??
I didn't get to Poland until 97. There was still much there. Last year had a great time in Warsaw and Krakow. Very little original in military collectibles, we did get a little lucky though...
Really a great collection!!

Hi Gaspere.
Unfortunately my memory is not what it once was. I do remember giving people directions to the market.
Even in 1994, the German militaria was either "messed" with or was of poor condition. I feal lucky we started with the non German stuff, which at the time was not so reproduced. This gave me a chance to handle many daggers and not loose my shirt.
By 1997 we were using the German markets almost entirely and there were still goo original items available.
We use to hang out on Sunday's at the Mariott in Warsaw. It was there we met many ex pats and would take them to both the Kohl market and the Russian Market. The Rusian market is a story all to itself.
I personnal would love to re visit Poland.
Jim
