Great looking dagger. The swastika still has it's gold coloring. The coloring to the rest of the pommel is just age,but I wouldn't clean it.

Is the background burnishing on the crossguard the same color as what is shown on the pommel?
Best Regards, Robert

Now, I am NOT saying that this dagger is a fake, but I do know that there are fakes with a slightly golden finish to them (and they are therefor described as a replica of a "generals dagger", because of course the generals had to have golden daggers, while they other officers had "ordinary" ones). Looks almost a bit like the famous "smokers patina". They are not too bad fakes, actually. Could probably fool someone. Here is a link to one in a "for sale" ad on a swedish page: http://www.blocket.se/vi/12069845.htm?ca=12_sAs you can see, the hangers would fool anyone Wonder when they will start selling these as "elastic fabric `someting` for high nazi officials underwear"... But the thing is, they make fake "golden" 2nd lufts that are not too disgusting, unfortunately. As I said, I just wanted to tell you, I DO NOT say this is one of them.
(Always looking for named/personalized/"altered" HJ knifes/bayos and Brannik/czech youth knifes)

Your dagger is a perfect specimen. I have an Eickhorn also with gilding in the pommel crevices. I believe this is a result of the way in which they applied gilding to the pommel swaz. Again, great looking piece!
