This helmet was found in the basement along with two stick grenades as the new owner was cleaning out some stuff to fix the upstairs floor. Local police didn't want to fool with the grenades so they called a demolition team from Ft.Carson. The demo team took the grenades with them. The police report was quite comical not knowing what they were dealing with. The new owner would like to know if the helmet is WWII authentic? starky

Posting a bit late; but in my opinion not only does the wire look good - it is also a camo, making it a much sought after helmet.

Cheers,

Asper

I have my doubts. Decals appear dugout under the wire.

"Decals appear dugout under the wire"
What exactly does that mean?

Looking at the twist in the chicken wire, that to me is a standard still being used today. Notice how the twist of the strands of the wire can only tighten each other to afford camo in an ambush of firefight. They alternate each other to lock and tighten. The decals in question about being "dugout" under the camo applied wire net is speculation for all of us who collect this stuff.
Remember that WWII German helmets were often "recycled" to keep up with demands of the powers that be at the time.

I like this helmet because the decal of the National colors was not "dugout" but removed to comply with regulations at that particular time in history.

I'll probably get suspended again for "Adult Collector Expressions" for the contents of this post. If so, can I get a special badge for most bad report cards of GDC members?
How about a land mine marker?
